A Quick Thanks and Stuff

June 26, 2009

Three news posts in a week. Hot damn!

I'm fighting temptation to end the post there.

Anyway, I wanted to thank the people who've dropped tips for the 6x9 cards. So you know, I'm picking them up from the printer on Monday and hope to have them out the next day. I'll be emailing those who've helped out

I'll be doing these for a little while longer because - well, like I said, there are bills to pay - so if you're one of the people emailing and concerned this while vanish in a week, don't worry. . I'm trying to get some other stuff for people who've donated extra. I'll talk about that Monday. This weekend I might be doing filler strips from (ugh) when I was a teenager. Yeah, comics I drew at age 17 for a Christian Magazine called T.Q. They didn't seem to mind my lack of agreement and I didn't mind their paychecks, so all's well. But that's a big if. I'd really like to have the weekend to finish off either Super Stupor #2 or ... something else, as well as getting extras for tippers.

So yeah. That's it. Sorry, no links or stuff. And why do people keep emailing and asking what I think about Michael Jackson dying? Why does anyone care what I think about him? Honestly I'd only be concerned if he owed me money... and then you better fuckin' BELIEVE I'd be collecting. -R.

Spee-Lunkers and Storylines And Music

June 25, 2009

First thing's first. I have a friend named Morwynne whom I adore. For a few years now, she's been the inspiration for Nancy. She's in a band now, and oh look you can hear three of their songs here.

Second, if you're wondering what the hell a Spee-Lunker is, you can learn about them and the dark ride they lived in via this link. I loved that ride as a kid and was very sad when, during my high school years, they ripped it out for a shitty Yosamite Sam ride.

On a different note, I've received a few emails recently (mostly quite polite) confused and concerned that the comic is mostly humor nowadays and I've avoided any "serious" storylines. I've also received a few emails confused why the characters are so mean to each other. I'm assuming the latter are new readers who've stumbled in and merely need to go back to the start and see how much meaner the cast has been. As for the prior, I've been doing predominately humor comics because I wanted humor. It's really that simple. Will there be serious storylines? Yes. Will there be larger storylines? Yes - in fact, one's coming up. But simply put, I've been doing the comic I needed to do for myself, and thankfully most of you seem to like that.

Just remember that if you're ever unhappy that I'm doing too much comedy, the second I do serious stuff I'll get complaints about that. Hell, there are people who complain when Fred or Choo-Choo Bear surface in the comic. So just ride it out. But again, thankfully most people seem happy whichever way it goes. I've been getting a lot of very nice emails lately, actually. Kinda makes me wonder if I'm going to die.

Oh, and to all the emails I got in the last ten minutes - no, I'm not going to do a strip about Michael Jackson. I've a feeling we'll be hearing enough about him in the immediate future. -R.

Stuff for June 22, 2009

June 22, 2009

First thing's first. I think I mentioned this before but just in case: if you have any questions/concerns/complaints/confusion/deep religious confliction about a store order, the email to send those to now is choochoobear@gmail.com - the rippystore address became a haven for spam and I kept losing shit. Really, really sucks.

I can only describe today as "ugh." Anyway, here's something that'll brighten things for a few of you. Aeire and Chris over at Puncn an' Pie (a comic hosted by S*P - whoo!) have their Volume 1 book on pre-order and, for a limited time, it's 55% off the normal price. That deal won't last forever.

On the home front, I'm trying something new. Summer months are always lean (well, for me) and apparently people who send bills think you should pay them. I know. I was shocked, too. What I'm going to test out is this: I've got a bunch of 6x9 cards comin' my way in a week. Anyone who drops a tip in our jar (the PayPal button to your left) of $3 (for folks in North America) or $5 (anywhere else - sorry but international mail will cost me more) will get a sketch on one of these cards. Now, these won't be commission quality - no backgrounds, etc. Just something as a thank you. Then I'll slip the card in an A10 envelope and send it your way. I'll draw any character of mine - doesn't matter the strip. No, I won't do porn (porn is gonna cost you a lot more than $3). And for every additional $3, I'll do another sketch (for readers outside the U.S., too). All you have to do is tell me who/what you want.

If this becomes a horrible nightmare, I'll stop but anyone who ordered before will still get their sketch. Just remember to email me what you want. Thanks! I hope to have more stuff up (including limited edition prints) in the next couple of days. -R.
